Workers

The police presence was amazing and reassuring. On every block there were police cruisers parked, and officers walking and watching. It has been years since I've been to NYC, but I don't remember the police department being that visible before.

The other thing that was really obvious to me was the amount of construction workers at Ground Zero. They worked all hours of the day, and that was on the weekend! The transformation is spectacular, and those folks are doing a great job at rebuilding the site.
