There is something about the smell of sheets dried outside on the line. The smell of sun, wind, and freshness...it can't be replicated. No fabric softeners or dryer sheets even begin to come close. Not to mention the stain removing quality of the sunshine. Line drying can't be beat!
People around here don't have clothes lines anymore. They've gone the way of rotary phones and electric typewriters. I grew up hanging clothes on the line for my Mom. While I hated the chore itself, placing my head on a fresh pillowcase was so worth it.
This picture was taken at my late great-uncle's bungalow. My Mom and Dad stay there once in awhile, and the kiddos and I were visiting the other day.
